Here's my truly amazing class from 2019! I hope to see them back for another round this summer! So, so much fun for them, me and my counselors/assistants.
Here's just a little peek at the madness...
This summer of Cooking Camp is for rising grades 5-9 and will run from July 13th-17th (Monday-Friday) from 1:00-5:00 pm., daily at ChefScape in Leesburg at The Village at Leesburg in ChefScape's Cooking Studio.
Just as in years past, it's a win-win for parents and campers alike! Your budding chefs learn the skills, not only to cook from scratch, but to feed their families. Unlike other cooking camps, who just feed the campers, Sweet Home Cooking Camp sends a full dinner home, prepared by your child for the entire family (based on a family of 4). I've been so impressed with how proud this makes the kids. They take the meals home, set the table (as taught in camp) and present their beautiful, delicious and healthy meals, each night, to their families.
Each day we have cooking games, guest chef demonstrations and/or tastings and then create a balanced meal for the kids to take home to their families. We end the week with and Top Chef-style challenge where the kids work in teams with a mystery box of ingredients and create a masterpiece to present before a panel of Chefs and some of Virginia's top food influencers. All in good fun and the kids see it as the highlight of the week.
Sterling Restaurant Supply and several other wonderful local vendors (Cobb Cinema, Rocket Fizz, Bowlero, Atomic Trampoline, Sweet & Sassy), at the Village at Leesburg, as well demonstrations from guest chef's from Rooted and Bloomed and Dana's Cake Shoppe and ChefScape participated in donating prizes for all of the campers. Trader Joe's donated some amazing bags of specialty grocery items and some really interesting additions to the Mystery Box Challenge.
Over two summers, my campers have learned how to make quiches, meat dishes, pasta, salads, dressings, sauces, desserts and more. Never satisfied to do the same thing twice, over the next few months I'll be creating an exciting, new, family friendly, set of menus for my campers to add to their culinary repertoire this summer.
The fun never stops!
Each camper: $500 for the week
Dinner for 4, nightly (Additional meals for larger families may be purchased for $12/day/person)
Class from 1:00-5:00 daily
Classroom materials and cookbook
Apron and camp t-shirt
Prizes and certificates for all children
Tastings and snacks throughout the day
Camp size maximum is 12 campers. Specific allergies may be able to be accommodated, but due to the nature of the camp, unfortunately gluten-free and vegetarian options are not available.
As well as being a Chef, I have been a Girl Scout/Guide leader for many years and...a million years ago...a police officer. I've got your children's safety and well-being in mind at all times and appreciate the opportunity to bring a fun summer week to each camper!
